



AWARD CRITERIA:
ATHENA AWARD
The ATHENA Award actively supports and celebrates the ATHENA mission of supporting, developing and honoring women leaders and inspiring women to achieve their full potential—creating balance in leadership worldwide. The ATHENA Award honors individuals who strive toward the highest levels of personal and professional accomplishment, who excel in their chosen field, devote time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and forge paths of leadership for other women to follow.
CRITERIA
•Demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their
business or profession
•Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others
in their community
•Assist women in reaching their full leadership potential
LEGACY AWARD
Those who have at least two generations in their family that work together in the same company/business (father/son, mother/son, grandparent/grandchild, etc.) may be nominated.
CRITERIA
Nominee and/or business do not have to reside in HB.
Must fulfill one of the below categories to be considered:
•Category One: (2 - 15 employees) At least one of the duo is a current member of the HBCOC.
•Category Two: (15 or more employees) Requirements are the same as category one.
•Category Three: (In Memory) the living member of the legacy is a current member of the HBCOC.
OUTSTANDING CITIZEN AWARD
The recipient of this award must live or work in HB and his/her work in the community must be voluntary, un-paid work. Nominations can come from individuals or organizations and the meritorious service can be performed within the last year or over a span of years.
CRITERIA
•The nominee must live or work in HB.
•The nominee must have performed an extraordinary act or
service in this community.
•This includes acts of heroism, humanitarianism, charity or other
outstanding service.
•The service performed must be voluntary, un-paid work
•Meritorious service can be within the last year or over a span
•Nominations can come from individuals or organizations
EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIP AWARD
This award is presented to an individual or business who has demonstrated a significant dedication to furthering the HB K-14 school system. This partnership may be financial, internship, or program development based.
CRITERIA
•Partnership must be within the Huntington Beach K-14 school system.
•Must have significant benefits for students directly.
ENVIRONMENTAL/SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS AWARD
This Award recognizes a business that demonstrates environmental improvements and cost savings associated with resource use efficiency. The company must through a product or program have a direct tie to HB. Awarded optionally, based on nominations received meeting award requirements, reviewed and assessed by the Chamber’s Sustainable Surf City Committee.
CRITERIA
Nominees must meet one of the following qualifications:
•The company through a product or program must be environmentally responsible through services, products, technologies, business operations or projects.
•The business, product or program must have a positive impact on employees, customers, the environment, and the Huntington Beach community.
BUSINESS IN EXCELLENCE AWARD
Awarded to a Chamber member business, for showing outstanding contribution to the Chamber, reputation in the community and participation in community involvement. The business also exemplifies success through sound business practices. The nomination can be from your business or for another. Must be a Chamber Member.
CRITERIA
Recognition of:
•Small (fewer than 25 employees)
•Medium (26-150 employees)
•Large (151 or more employees)
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR
The Business Person of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has made major accomplishments in their professional life and has made significant contributions to the HB business community and communityas a whole.
CRITERIA
All nominees must:
•Be a business leader in the City of HB or have direct ties to a HB
project.
The Award Winner will be selected based on the answers to the questions below in the form.
•Please give a brief work history/resume of the individual.
•How has the individual built and maintained its leadership role in the HB business community?
•What have been the individuals’ key accomplishments?
•How has the individual contributed to the HB business community?
•What business groups has the individual been involved in?
•In what ways does the individual give back to the HB community?
